Margaret Peterson was born in Seattle, Washington. She obtained a B.A. in 1926 and an M.A. in 1931 from the University of California at Berkeley, and joined the Fine Arts Faculty at Berkeley in 1928. She married Howard O'Hagan in 1937, and first moved to Victoria, B.C., in 1956. Her prizewinning art has been exhibited throughout North America in many public and private galleries and corporations. Her works in cubism and abstraction are instrumental in the forming of Canada's west coast 1950's modern art movement.
