Armand Tatossian RCA was born in Alexandria Egypt in 1948, and hails from a family deeply involved in the arts. His father Charles is a painter and his grandfather was a painter and curator at the Alexandria Museum of Egypt. At the time he was inducted into the RCA, he was the youngest person to have done so. He studied under and was studio assistant to Adam Sheriff-Scott. A painter of the nature near and around Montreal, he is known for his use of a heavily brushed application of paint and as an artist who does not use the colour black, resulting in clarity of light and colour. He has taught art at Concordia University in Montreal and his work is in numerous public, private and corporate collections, including the National Gallery of Canada, Musee de Quebec and the National Gallery in Washington, DC.
